AEG Dishwasher - Not emptying - how to remove and test pump?

Model: AEG OKO Favorit 5040 dishwasher
Question: Any suggestions on how best to remove and test the small emptying pump?.

Recently our AEG dishwasher has stopped emptying. Happened last a few years ago.

The 45 degree tilt

fix worked then but not this time.

I have removed the top and right hand side panel.

Main Pump - I can see the main pump mother is spinning and the water circulates so that looks ok.

Small Pump - As this is on the outlet hose I am now planning to remove it to test/replace.

I have two questions.

1st Question (this post)
Any suggestions on how best to remove and test the pump?.

2nd Question (Also posted separately)
As I had the machine out and opened I also removed the left side panel.

I can see sludge fat deposits near the bottom of what I think is called the water inlet matrix.

Does anyone know if and how I should clean this?

Many Thanks

removed pump similar to previous reply. loosened pipes, but then struggled with clips, but eventually out of desparation just wriggled the pump up, down, left right and it came loose... pulled pump semi out, but left power supply connected. held by plastic parts in hand, switched on and saw blades inside not revolving, power off, moved blades with screw driver thru front opening, piece of macadamia nut shell came loose. check other outlet also for debris... dont ask me how that got thru the filters. obviously operator error (aka spouse, hehe). reassembled... voila

Teresa,
I have just had the same problem with my AEG - I removed the pump using a pair of large pliers to squeeze the wire clips together and then slide them away from the pump. Watch out for the dirty water – put an old towel or rag under the pump or use a wet and dry vacuum. The black plastic mounding that fixes to the grey housing to the left, when viewed from the front, has two lugs that need levering up to allow the pump to be removed. The lugs are at the outside edges. I used an alan key to lever up from the bottom.
When I had removed the pump I used an old length of mains cable with a plug on one end and a couple of spade connectors on the other, plugged into the pump. Obviously I would not recommend doing this due to the risks involved – get a competent sparkie friend to do this for you. You could do this while the pump is still connected just to check that it is the pump that is faulty.
I have just ordered a replacement from shop.ezee-fix.co.uk, part number AEG Pump - AEG8996464036582 for me. I hope it arrives soon as my hands are getting a bit soft from all the washing up!!
Good luck
