HOW CAN I FIX?

I CHANGED THE BATTERY ON MY DIESEL 2L ASTRA THE EARTH LEAD SPARKED AND THE FAN AND RADIO STARTED ON THERE OWN BUT I CAN NOT START MY ENGINE AND MY ELECTRONICALY CONTROLED LIGHT IN THE DASH IS PERMENANTLY ON

sounds like u blew (a) fuses check ur fuse box and try disconnecting battery for awhile to reset ecm
