gears on a 1.2 corsa merti how many?

daughter has a corsa 1.2 merit n reg ,is there 4 or 5 gears on this car,she can only get 4.If there should be 5 is it easy to fix,thankyou

Could well be a 4 speed box. The 5 speed was an option on the earlier Corsas. The engine is a flexible unit well able to cope with just 4 speeds. Top gear is the same ratio on both boxes I believe so there'll be little difference in economy.
