briggs and stratton model 10d902?

hi my dad has a briggs and stratton 10d902 engine we hav just put on to his litle rotivator we fitted a new plug and put fresh petrol in but it wont start we checked for a spark and it as a very good one we took off and cleaned the carburetor with carb spray and it still wont start we removed exhuast and petrol dripps out after priming it up and pulling cord a few times and the plug smells of petrol any help would be appreciated thanks

i have had it running now but have to pull plug lead off to stop it can i fit a switch and how do i do it thanks for all your help

i have just disconected the wire from the brake to the coil does this make a difference

Simply removing the brake will break the ignition circuit- I take it you have ensured the wiring is modified as well?

does the engine have an engine brake fitted. If it's come off a mower than it will have- you will need to overide this when you fit it to a cultivator application.
