SOUND CARD PROBLEMS?

Each time I turn my PC on (Windows 98SE) my computer wants to install the software for my sound card (presumably?)

I removed the soundcard recently and tried to reinstall it. It would appear that the PC is looking for the on-board sound not the extra soundcard I had previously installed. I am having difficulty reinstalling the software. Can anyone help?

goto control panel click on sound and audio devices locate the onboard sound device and click turn off, then click on the souncard you want to use and click (use this device enable)
