Indesit IDL40 flashing light fault code?

What does it mean when the wash(2) and drying lights(4) flash. They started to flash mid cycle and the dishwasher stopped.
gavin, March 2009
The error code means that the water has overheated. The most common cause of this appearing as an intermittent fault (expecially if it affects prog 1 more than prog 2) is that a thermal sensor on the inside surface of the metal door liner has come loose and is making bad contact with the door.

hi Gavin
we had the same problem last week. we replaced the salt and added rinse aid and it seems to be working fine (used it twice since)
