I got a fix. The garbage can!!!!!!

Rosalund, October 2021
nope can't answer this. Ready to throw it out and get a new one. Its old any way. Got it in 2011

Rosalund, October 2021
I got it!

I picked it up, rotated it on its side, turned it upside down, fiddled with the mysterious switch on the underside, and in general shook it around for a few seconds.

I also tried shooting compressed air into the paper path.

Then, I showed it this video. http://youtu.be/l0_S_EdZ_I8

After that, it started working. I hope this helps.

If you haven't already done this, try this:
ollow these steps to reset the printer:

1. Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available).
2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared) .
3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. If troubleshooting a communication issue, reconnect the data cable (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared).
4. Turn the printer back on.

If that doesn't work, I think it may help to clean the paper feed rollers. Here's how:

Clean The Paper Feed Rollers (Windows)
1. Open the Printer properties.
For Windows Vista
* Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel', 'Hardware and Sound', and then click on 'Printers'. Note: If you are in 'Classic' view, Click 'Printers' directly from the 'Control Panel'.
* Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.
For Windows XP Home Edition
* Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel,' 'Printers and Other Hardware,' and 'Printers and Faxes.'
* Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.

For Windows XP Professional Edition
* Click 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Printers and Faxes.'
* Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.
For Windows 2000
* Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Settings,' then 'Printers.'
* Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Properties' from the menu that appears.
2. Click the 'Maintenance' tab and click 'Roller Cleaning'.
3. Remove all sheets of paper from the auto sheet feeder.
4. Confirm the following message, and click 'OK'.
Note: Clicking 'OK' will activate the paper feed rollers 30 times. This activation will take about 90 seconds. Do not perform other operations until this operation has finished.
5. Confirm the following message, and click 'OK'.
6. After the continuous paper feeding operations in step 5 have finished, load three sheets of plain paper and click 'OK'.
7. Confirm the following message, and click 'OK'.
Note: The following message is displayed when the paper is fed and ejected.
8. Click 'OK'.

Same thing here and i have yet to find an solution..
And im positive that there isnt a real paper jam.

Filip, October 2009
mine the same. Its only done about ten prints.

fred, August 2009
Mine is doing the exact same thing. According to the canon Website you can reset the printer by unplugging all the cables and leaving it unplugged for approx. 10mins... I've tried this and it hasn't worked...
Still looking for a fix if anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
