Hi all, one of the most common faults on these machines is the plastic speed sensor? on the back of the motor. Make sure machine is unplugged, lay on its side, prise off the metal cap, take off the sensor surround with the wire on. You will now see the white plastic type screw, if you are lucky this will be loose. 2 prong holes in the end, just use some long nose pliers to tighten clockwise while holding pulley at the front. As I say, if you're lucky, fixed in 10 minutes. :-)

I had the very same problem today! Have been washing the horses saddlecloths when it happened! Guess what! Yep water wouldn't drain because I had clogged the filter with horse hair, hubby drained it from bottom left front if machine, then once all the water was out he cleaned the filter & hey presto it's working fine again! Hope this helps!! ;)

how do i change the Brushes on my washing machine and is there a design for this

I have the same machine mine when switched on flashes at the display then just stops, the 5 year parts guarantee offered by hoover isn't worth the paper its written on as only valid if you pay a £120 call out fee or take out an £170 extended warranty either way hoover make a defective & unreliable expensive machine & offer a worthless warranty & they make extra money for their sins think very hard about even thinking about buying anything made by hoover with such a cynical management & support structure turning your misery into their gain, what ever happened to customer support? they simply said pay or go away i went but now have no washing machine.

My washing machine wont spin it does all the wash but wont spin.SO I have to keep going in to put it on spin and then it works.Mind you after saying that just been in and it wont even spin now.I hate it why dont they make washing machines to last these days it seems you have to buy one every year.

Don't wish to sound like a clever bugger but my husband seems to have fixed our washer (that was doing the same - lights flashing and not draining or spinning). He turned it off at the wall then left it for a few minutes then switched it back on and in his words "started pressing a few buttons!" Mainly pressing the spin speed button.
Not sure exactly how that's worked but I'm now on my third load of clean, spun washing. And after just coming back from holiday that is a godsend.
I realise this isn't actually an answer but it may help some of you. Good luck - Sami-Jane x

My Hoover machine has taken 7 hrs to do a cycle, I turned it off in the end. Being over 5yrs old I would need to pay for all repairs/parts but customer service said sounds like the "timer" has a problem (I'll say!!!)
It also randomly chooses a cycle - sometimes it will decide to do a pre-wash, and it rarely does a cycle in the time it says on the control knob.
On the back of this experience, despite the age of the machine, it has put me off buying another Hoover machine.

I cannot believe it, to find so many unfortunate customers in the same position as me. I have exactly the same problem. I start the mechine after the first cycle of program, the annoying save timer starts to, i have tried various programs and the same thing happens, switching mechine on/off, it say in the manual press save timer button to reset, I ve done this nothing happens, now the water is not draining, this mechine is just over a year old. I will take Eleanor's advice and see how far I get

I had the same problem, I called a free quote engineer who said it was the panel, £80 for the part + fitting. My dad then sent his mate round (20 years experience), found a magnet loose on the motor, fixed it no problem for a small fee ( a lot less than Hoover charge, and a lot less than the needless new panel). My advice is to get somebody out on a no call-out charge and mention this to them.

unfortunately no answer, just a similar problem. Start washing and then it stops, with the lights flashing on 1200 spin speed (although I'm doing a 1400 spin wash), and the timer button. So far it still drains, but I'm getting really fed up with it.

I have the same hoover washing machine. Now 4 months old and has had Comet 6 times to try and repair it - 3 pumps, 2 motors, 6 electrical plates (think that is the name!) and various other parts - luckily all at no cost to me. Total cost of parts (not labour) £370!!! MACHINE STILL NOT WORKING AFTER 8 WEEKS ATTEMPTING TO REPAIR IT!! Comet refusing to replace & now got to wait 2 weeks for yet another repair attempt - driving me mad but I'm a handwashing expert (family of 6)

fed up!, April 2009
