Dyson hoover doesn't work?

My Dyson DC14 will start okay and pick up. After 5 minutes it suddenly stops "cuts out" and looses all power,if I then leave it for 12 hours approx it will work again but stops again after 5 minutes?Can you please help?Is it overheating?

try cleaning the filter.
they have a thermal cut out and cut out when they get blocked and overheat.
