Zanussi Low temp alarm every 15 mins BUT temp. OK?

My 7 year old Zanussi ZX97/5 or 99/5 frost free fridge freezer low temp alarm goes off around every 15 - 30 mins during the day. All 3 lights flash most of the time but ocassionally just the red one.

The low temp warning beeper continues until acknowledged by pressing the red light a couple of times.

The actual temperature of the F/F is ok. If anything, the fridge temperature is a little too cool, even on the lowest demanding fridge setting. It seems to be trying too hard (although not to freezing point in fridge)

I've previously had the common fault that people often describe (cold freezer, warm fridge) and turning it off a couple of days did rectify it.

Ive defrosted it by this method a couple of times now. However, the alarm is really annoying as it seems to be crying wolf.

Q. Is this likely to be a faulty thermostat telling the compressor to keep working, even when it should be resting?

PS, It does rectify itself overnight but I can't keep my lady away from the fridge in the day. I may need to put a couple of rottweilers around it.

General solution, not make specific ... Try this .. Might save you some grief. Turn temperature knob to reset. Turn appliance off / unplug it. Remove all contents, having contacted a friend / friends willing to store contents for you in their freezer(s) .. Chances are the freezer is defrosting because it thinks you have not closed the door. .. It may simply be the seal has become squashed / compacted .. Allow time to defrost the freezer. Use a hair dryer on low to medium setting (you do not want to melt plastic) running this around the door seal to allow it to puff back up again. You may need to pass the hair dryer around the seal several times (but don't overcook it). Now set the temperature gauge back to its normal setting. Reconnect / switch freezer back on. Allow min 3 hours. Then check freezer is doing its job, by placing a half filled container of water on middle shelf and wait. Hopefully you will find it is freezing as it should and you then have ice. Hopefully the alarm is also no longer going off. I the alarm persists in going off you will need to try something else.

this could be an issue with the auto defrost heater being faulty.you say you have manually defrosted it for warm fridge problem.look through the grill in the top of the freezer compartment and if it is a solid lump of ice especially at both sides this could be your problem.also there is 2 sensors (air sensor and evapourator sensor).again these could be the problem.finally you could have a poor pumping compressor.you say the temp is correct but for the alarm to go off suggests it to high.items will be still frozen as the alarm activates at around -12.
