i cant get AM on my golf radio and i'm thinking of replacing the standard ariel. do i need to remove to entire interior trim to get at it?

no you dont,you can just lower rear end of linning ,remove the top rear seat belt anchores. and pull the trims loose ,then remove trim going along from the n/s to the o/s at rear of headlinning by pulling it downwards, youshould be able to get your hand in then to undo the 24mm nut that holds the arial on.
