Should there be a little water in the bottom where the filter is?

My dishwasher has never worked as well since moving to my new place despite the hose being short and being attached to (and right next to) a new sink and pipework. I have noticed that there is always a little water in the bottom where the filter is and I don't remember it being there before - or did I just never notice it??? It is a Whirlpool ADP 7966. Thanks so much in advance to anyone who is able to advise!!! Corrina

Ok thanks, that's good to know!! It is below the filter so presumably correct. It's just sometimes it doesn't clean and other times it does so I wondered if that would help point me in the right direction but at least I can rule that out anyway. Thank you though, I really appreciate you taking the time very much!!
Kind regards, Corrina

there will always be some water in the bottom but it should be under the filter and not visible once the filter is in position.if water is above the filter then there is a problem.
