Can a leaking oven thermostat be fixed?

I have a Parkinson Cowan Prince Two Magitrol gas cooker, which leaks from the oven thermostat slightly, can it be fixed? would i be able to get a thermostat? The cooker dates from 1967. The taps used to leak but have been greased and this has stopped the problem, but I cant seem to stop the slight leak from the thermostat. Also I have replaced the batteries but the oven and grill ignition still do not seem to work any ideas??

Hi Bob, just checking back. Yes it can be fixed, you are unlikely to need a replacement stat. The oven and grill ignition is the older type before the spark ignition types. They use a small hot element, like a little lamp bulb but with no glass. These were flimsy and would need replacing eventually.
I will check back every so often for a while.
