What is wrong with my dyon dc04?

My dyson dc04 is making an awful sound when the brush unit is in the down position but not in the normal position.It is not picking up very well either. I have taken the brush unit off and the rubber belt is still intact.

Mine is doing exactly the same! I have changed belts but this didn't affect it. Do you know if this model has a clutch or not?
