You need - obviously - a good quality glass cutter which is like a knife with a hardened wheel in the end. You also need a completely flat surface. You score a line on the glass, after dipping the cutter in kerosene, and then you support the glass under the score mark with a match or something. On pressing down on either side of the score mark, the glass should cut. Tip - don't use old glass, don't make more than one score line, don't try to cut curves.
