How can I fix my Hotpoint TC71 Condenser Dryer?

My Hotpoint TC71 Condenser Dryer on/off button does not always engage the relay andstart the dryer on it's cycle. Sometimes, when it stops to rotate the other way, it stops completely. If it stops, I can come back to the dryer later, and it will work, so it is not the switch or the relay I don't think.

I think it is something to do with overheating, though I've cleaned out the filters, and vacuumed inside.

Any ideas?

My timer knob doesn't engage and go round. The timer has been making a clicking sound. Do I need to replace the timer or just the knob? Any help gratefully appreciated! Thanks

hi about your condensor dryer ive had same problem ..if you remove the relay switch (note do diagram of the 4 wiring terminals and were they go back)..you will see that the contacts in the switch have gone black this will cause the drier not to work ,,you can remove the clear plastic relay cover and gently using fine emmery paper clean up the contacts.....then put back togethor and replace the wiring and put back in place behind the facia...this take only 10 mins from start to finish ....and the main problem i go out too is blowing cold ,,in order to prevent thermostats tripping out (these parts control the heat to the drier)

always check the condenser unit which is at bottom above water tank if fluff blocks these spaces on this condener unit
not enough cold air can get in to m/c ,,this blows stats...

thanks
john
