How can i fix my Singer 7442?

I have a singer 7442 i have just filled the bobbin and then tried to sew but the needle now hits the bottom of the shuttle case. its as if the needle is to long

You will need to retime the machine, I can attach timing instructions if you email me, this site no longer allows email addresses to be displayed but you can can get my address on any answer from page 25 down.
