What kind of grease in MTD transmission?

I'm rebuilding a transmission in a 1999 MTD 50" lawn tractor. Is there anything special about the grease in the transmission or can I use regular high temperature axle grease?

I use laminated chicken fat in my MTD transmission and it works flawlessly.

you can use the regular axle grease , but i always use the RED grease, itwill stick to the gears longer and will not drop into the bottom of the transaxle pan as quickly.

I had to take my trans case apart and have it mig welded and used regular axle grease and even put a grease fitting on housing to make it so there wouldn`t too much a mess ...still driving it 4 years later ..........ever so often I put grease gun to it until I see grease osing out of axle shafts thou just to make sure ....
