If it is not starting with choke on, there are a few things you can try...
..clean the air filter
..make sure petrol is nice and fresh no older than 3 weeks approx
..clean and gap spark plug, check that spark is ok
..check chain sprocket and clutch not gummed up with old oil/sawdust, and chain is nice and free not jammed
..tighten the throttle adjuster screw 1 or 2 turns to open the throttle slightly. These old saws vibrate a lot, this may have shaken the screw out of position. If it starts, loosen the screw off so the saw will idle without the chain running
..may be sh1t in the fuel lines, you will need to take off top cover, air filter, remove 2 8mm nuts and access cover to get to carb. Check that lines are clear and fuel filter inside tank is not blocked
..carb may need adjustment on low speed...check owners book, I have only used trial and error and what sounds good when saw is running!!
...MAKE SURE THE OFF/ON ELECTRICAL SWITCH POINTS UP...THIS IS ON!!
If it still won't go, scrap it and buy a new one..probably best part of 35 years old by now!!
