what is causing the knocking from n/s/f when braking and how can i fix it?

hi have just bought a 51 plate 307 hdi, when i brake and get to a slow speed there is a knocking noise from the n/s/f of the car and you can feel each knock through the footwell this only happens sometimes not everytime. i have changed disks + pads but no fix and when in reverse some times there a rubing sound but the arch plastics have come lose, but may be todo with the above, pls help many thx kev

this could be due to anthing, bushes wheel bearing or maybe even the rear brakes, sometimes noises come from a different place than it sounds its coming from, like wirecutterman sed check all rubbers etc (bushes)

Also check the drop links for wear - these connect the anti roll bar to the front strut and have a ball joint at each end.

check the constant velocity joint on the n/s, inner and outer joint this knocking will show up more when vehicle is on a lock ,check also the lower wishbone bush rubbers,
