how can i fix my peugeot 306, 2.0 hdi?

i have just put new disks and pads aswell as a new handbrake cable on n/s and it is still not working properly. foot brake is fine and the callipers are moving as handbrake is oapplied yet they still are quite poor. please help

take it for a long drive. new brakes need to wear in together. handbrake should improve when brakes worn in.
