Mountfield seized after hitting metal pole.... Please Help?

I have a Mountfield 470, that I have used for the first time and found that my new garden had a old hidden metal clothes pole sunk into the ground. The engine has now seized and I am unable to pull the cord. Can I repair this myself, if so, how? Please help. Thank you .

Thank you Phil for your reply

That does not sound too good, maybe a second mower in the space of two weeks might be needed, even if the wallet can not take it....

Assumng the engine brake is not jammed on, the crank will be bent. This means the engine is scrap from an economcal point of view.

Repairs are possible if your time is free, but a new engine will cost about the same as the new parts (£60 or so)

John.
Thank you for your response.
The blade does fully rotate and does not touch the side. I have turned the blade, but is is very hard to dothis. I am thinking that something must have jammed in the motor?

Are you sure its not just the blade thats jamming into the cutter deck?
