I have had a similar problem with 2004 3.0dci grand espace and sent my display to cluster repairs in great yarmouth. all sorted for £139+vat, works perfectly again.

I don't know if its the common fault but i just fixed mine by changing the electrolytic cap by the connector...330uF 30v

To Gary,
I have the exact same problem you have; loss of central locking (intermittent) and temperature display shows random dots. It's a 2002 Espace, 2.2GTD. I bought it second hand and the previous owner has had the same problem; he opted to replace the dashboard alltogether. I'd rather not do that. Did you have any luck at fixing it?

Thx

I have been told that if you have a printed circuit board on the back to look for a break in it if there is you should be able to solder a small wire over the break and the lights should come back on.

the answer above seems really complicated !!! i have the same problem and all it is caused by is a faulty printed circuit board that the bulbs for the dash sit in.

i have solved my problem by using insulation tape to secure them in position.

it is a very easy job to do it takes just 6 srews to get the dash out

I am having the same problem on a 2000 Diesel Espace.
I am an electronic engineer and have tracked the problem to a loss of data communication between the car and the dash. When it is OK I can see good syncronised data on the CAN bus on the blue connector to the dash. When it is faulty the data is just random continuous bits. I have taken measurements at various points on the dash PCB and am now trying to get it to go faulty to see if there is any difference. I suspect that the problem is caused by electrical noise interfering with the circuit, possibly caused by capacitors ageing. I will replace the two large ones and see if that cures it. It does not seem to be a power issue as most of the board seems to have power on it OK and although the central locking does not work, the receiver unit (square shiny box on the left) has power to it and I can see (using an oscilloscope) the signals from the plip coming out of it. Nobody else seems to have mentioned the loss of central locking. I will put more here 'when I know the answer'!!
