ford mondeo 2.0 auto?

hi just wonderd if you could help me i have a v-reg mondeo 2.0ltr. One morning i was driveing home and noticed the car was reveing quite high before changeing gear then all of a sudden i came to a crawleing pace around about 15mph and then lost drive all together. i was told that there is a filter in the gear box which if it gets blocked it could cause this problem do you have any ideas what could cause this problem many thanx

Hi,the problem you are describing is a clutch slipping.
Then burning out loosing drive altogether.
This will cause the filter to block which will stop the gearbox from driving.
If you still have reverse then the filter is not blocked.
The filter cannot be changed without totally stripping the gearbox.
