why does my briggs and stratton engine smoke when the pull comes on it?

i have a countax ride on with a briggs and stratton 16 hp engine that smokes a lot when the pull comes on it like mowing up hill what can be wrong with it

thanks John its only when the pull comes on it that starts to smoke blue smoke could it be the oil filter

Oil level too high - or maybe the engine is just worn, if the smoke is blue. If the smoke is black, thats excess fuel so try cleaning the air filter.
