Hi Kevin
I also tried to get a replacement spool assembly for that model, but without any success. What happened with mine was that repeated bumping wore a hole in the bottom of the spool assembly, and the spring finally shot out through the hole.
If you’ve had a similar problem with yours, then I can tell you how to carry out a simple but effective repair.
Mix some Araldite and, using a matchstick, smear it liberally around the inside of the tube that passes through the centre of the spool. Next, take a pound coin and, using a piece of wooden doweling or similar, tap the coin down into the hole at the top of the spool. A pound coin should be a perfect fit in the hole. Tap the coin right down until it is flush with the bottom of the tube (where you bump it).
Allow the Araldite to harden, then reassemble. The repair should prove stronger than a replacement spool assembly.
Hoping this will be of help to you.
