How can I fix my 464pdes Mountfield Rotary Mower. ?

It starts fine, runs fine but I cannot stop the engine even by the dead mans handle. any ideas please

I reckon that the electrical connection to the cut out switch on the engine (operated by the dead mans handle) has come adrift - or for some reason its not actually switching.
