John Deere BC1600 (rubber plunger)?

The little rubber plunger that you push with your thumb has a crack in it. How can I replace it or fix it?
Matt in Fairfax Virginia, April 2009
You can find the part on Ebay for a couple bucks or go to Local Power Tool Supply which will charge you $5 - $7 bucks. JD BC1600 was made by Homelite and I believe the Carb is a Zama H46 24A.

Also check for rotted out fuel lines, mine had both these problems after leaving mixed fuel in the tank for a couple years.

I replaced the primer bulb & fuel lines for under $10 bucks and she runs great again!

That is called the primer bulb. Remove the bulb by taking the two screws adjacent to it out, then take it to a lawnmower/small engine repair shop. They will likely have one that will swap with it.
