Flymo running problem?

I have an old petrol flymo with the Tecumseh MV100 Engine you have to move a leaver forward which closes the choke to start it ,the leaver then moves back so it ticks over, when the leaver moves back the engine stops, if you hold the leaver forward a bit it will keep running any ideas anyone.thanks mark

Sounds like a carb problem.I have the same machine and it is very sensitive to even a bit of grass in the carb. Not difficult to take the carb off and to bits. Clean every speck of grass out of the petrol pipe, carb inlet, floatchamber and jet and try again. Also try with out the air filter in case that it clogged.
My machine stops when it tips to the left sometimes and it is always grass in the carb.

Me, I'm just a lawnmower., August 2009
Thanks john i will clean out the carb on the weekend

This indicates that there is a partially blocked jet in the carburettor, more than likely. You are compensating for this by having the choke partially on. Time for a carb strip down!
