yes the idle control valve.not a jag expert but it should be near the throttle body.idle is controled from the ecu and is not adjustable.check for air leaks around the injection system and you can clean out the idle valve with brake cleaner.also it should have a fuel cut of switch which is designed to cut fuel in a crash.if thats iffy then heavy braking could cause it to stall.i had a granada come to me with the same problem and fixed it in no time.there sometimes in the boot behind the trim designed to cut fuel if rear ended or car spins out but as i say i dont know jags very well so find out where it would be.let us know how you go
