whist driving a 2003 peugeot 206 at aronud 40mph and onwards there seems to be a squeaking noise which sounds as if its comin from the break discs or calipers.

Basically, remove all of the disc pads (but do one set at a time) and clean them thoroughly, together with the calipers to get rid of all of the brake dust. Use some 'coppaslip' grease on the back of the pads when you put them back in, and also grease any edges of the pad that are in contact with the metal caliper. The squeal should go.
