Battery dying overnight?

I have a 1989 420SEL mercedes and the battery is discharging overnight to the point the battery cannot be recharged. What is going on? Also, I can only start the car when I put gas in the carberator directly and it will run until I put it off or attempt to move it, turn the steeringwheel, etc. Any help!!

Heres what i would do.check its not just a duff battery,if its ok you have an amps drain.can check with a cheap multimeter by removing the earth lead from battery and putting meter in line on amps.check how much its draining.you will have small drain for clock and so on but will be small.if you find its high then remove each fuse until it stops, you now know which circuit has a fault.then you need to trace from there, sort this 1st as it could be the answer to your other problems
