i used my flymo 330 electric mower the other day it is smoking and a bad smell is coming off it,does any one know if it can be fixed and where it can be fixed?
could it be the carbon brushes (£5) attached to the motor need replacing...not too difficult?

I have an old Flymo circa 1992 which has now had 3 motors - when one dies I nip down to the Civic Amenity Centre (Council Tip) and buy an old Flymo from the chap who has the franchise to scavenge and recycle electrical goods. My last Flymo from him cost me £3.00 and thankfully the motor was a runner.
Simple handtools and (as I recall) a soldering iron are needed to make the change.

Flymo's with a smoking habit means a burnt out motor - I doubt if a replacement will be economically viable though, considering the labour charge to have one fitted.
