coolant?

coolant level keeps dropping. no sign of any external leakage on my rover 25. 1.4 impression.

if your Rover has the K series or Kseries mod engine it will be pushing the coolant out as steam in the exhaust, due to a failed cylinder head gasket.A common and well known fault on these engines.a new design gasket has been made to combat this.

Is there any sign of oily emulsion in the coolant filler bottle? If not, and there is no discharge from there, you have to suspect either a leak from the water pump area, behind the timing belt cover, or from the heater matrix inside the car, which manifests itself as a curious smell.
