how can i reset the immobiliser on my rover 1994 214SEi?

i have a rover 214SEi and the battery ran flat and now the immobiliser doesnt work,it is the original factory fitted one but i dont have the code to reset it.how can i do this or do i need to bypass it or something,if so how do i do this?

remove battery out of key fob for 3 minutes, then replace it aim fob near to the off side rear window and press button 3 times that should work
