Its rather difficult, but the carbon deposits will be mostly in the exhaust silencer anyway. Take that off if you can, and very carefully scrape away deposits that you'll see in the cylinder exhaust port - try not to let any bits drop in. To decarbonise the silencer, I just heat the thing up very hot with my gas blowtorch and burn out the carbon and oil residue that way.
