fuel leaks?

Hi Guys,
I drained the carb of fuel but I opened the nut at the bottom of the fuel bowl but once it is tight fuel spills out, can anyone advise what to do

The nut at the bottom is tight, it leaks from the top of the bowl as if the float inside doesnt go back up to stop the fuel
