Is the foot panel underneath the seat?

I have read the last answer to how to re charge a battery but have failed to see where the square hole in the foot panel however there is a opening under my seat, is this where i will find the battery.?

the foot panel is the panel your feet go on normally a section in the middle with a couple of screws the panel under the seat is more then likely for access to the carb
