How do I repair my Mondeo diesel engine which keeps "racing"?

My Ford "P" reg Mondeo turbo diesel engine starts to "race" when I am waiting at traffic lights etc. Smoke comes from the exhaust and the revs suddenly increase as soon as I drive off after idling. Help please?

check your oil if the diaphram is split it will leak diesel into the oil and raise its level causeing the turbo to race

look down between the injector pump and the radiator, on the injector pump there is a large nut it contains a diaphram whicth could be broken causing diesel to leak round to the turbo making the engine race till it has used the diesel, when the pipe fills again the engine will race again.

is it going to 3000rpms when ticking over i have the same problem no one can find whats doing it some say its the pump
