How to fix the starter cord on a mountfield petol lawnmower?

After pulling the starter cord it snapped back and will not recoil back into the lawnmower. Therefore i am unable to use the lawnmower and am really frustrated with it. Please help!!!!!!

whole pullcord mounting unbolts as one part a new one can just be bolted back on a new one costs under ten pounds
