my 97 renault clio wont start?

the battery died in my clio the other day so i brought the battery to a garage to charge it for free, it was on charge for about 3 and a half hours but when i put it back in my car it wouldnt start - not even with a jump...my car has central locking (it that makes a difference) is it a case that the battery just isnt charged enough? it used to work fine.

With the ignition off, hold down the central locking button (it's on the dash or down by the handbrake, not the one on the remote) for at least 5 seconds.
The doors should lock then unlock and the immobiliser light on the dash should light up.
Release the button.
Press the button on the remote twice. Doors should lock and unlock.
Repeat with spare key.
Start car as normal.
