Simpson Maxidry 452 shorting mains saftey switch?

Hi there i have a simpson maxidry 452, when running it wthout turning the heating switch on it seems to run fine but when i turn the heating switch to on it shorts the mains saftey switch in the fuse box within a few minutes. I have done an ohms test on the heater element and it seems to test ok, 33.3ohms (approx). I have fitted a new blower belt because the old one was broken, cleaned the dryer out completely from dust, etc and checked all the connections! is there something i am missing? thanks, Mark

If You Are Not A Registered Electrician Then You Should Get Someone Who Is. My Answer Is Because Of "Safety" (how much current is being drawn?)

Did you also test the element for any short to earth by putting ohms meter lead on one terminal & other lead on outside metal cover of element? If the fuse does not blow the second you switch on heat then it sounds more like something is expanding or moving when it gets hot and touching some metal part. Look for any wires, terminals etc that look close to metal. See if there is any burn or flash mark which may give you a clue.
