tumble dryer not heating?

Tumble dryer not heating which part is it most likelyto be. Thermostat only or something else. If thermostat could i replace myself. It is a Hotpoint TDC60P Model 90100947 bought in june 2001.

The Hotpoint has two Thermostats, on my dryer I have had to replace them once.

There is a way to fix them without buying new ones. Drill a small hole in the center (about 2mm) then stick in a small screwdriver untill you hear a click, and voila, should work as new!

Could possibly be the heating element as well, not expensive, and fairly easy to replace.

Replacing either the Thermostats or Heating element is not to difficult, fairly easy to access. Just remove two covers on the back of the dryer.

Its more likely to be the main heating element failure I think - and replacing it means a stripdown of the machine on the bench.
