The car has detected a fuelling, ignition or exhaust system fault, and although the car can be running well, it will need some attention. The fault will be logged as a code on the cars on board computer, and this code can be read by any garage with suitable diagnostic equipment - it doesn't have to be a main dealer - and they will probably advise you on what step to take next.
