Bernina foot pedal not working but machine still sews. What's gone wrong?

I have a Bernina Record 730 sewing machine. The foot pedal has suddenly stopped working. In order to sew, I have to turn the machine on/off using the switch on the wall socket, which means I don't have any control over the speed of stitching - it's full on or dead stop. What's the problem and possible solution?

your foot pedal needs looked at. it probably is stuck and not releasing when you lift your foot up. you might open it up your self but there is a possibility that a new foot conrol is needed

Hello Amy,
Sounds like the capacitor has blown in the control, you need to undo the foot control and take out what looks like a big fuse and discard it because you don't need it.
