Whilst reversing my car makes low pitched, chugging noise is this normal?

it's a vw golf, I've been told it could be a hole in my exhaust. Could it be something wrong with my gears?

hi, some earlier golfs suffered from chipped teeth on reverse gear whitch means a gearbox strip to repair,i'd take car to dealer for them to r/test and advise you.
