my 1997 Ford Escort LX 2.0L(SOHC) doesn't want to stay running first thing in the morning,it wants to shut off.when i restart it, it runs and idles fine.sometimes it has a smell of sulfur or carbon.Puffs alittle WHITE smoke at startup(only) sometimes.I think its running RICH but don't know why. There are no trouble codes.I have replaced the TP sensor,Coolant temp sensor, upstream O2 sensor, cleaned intake and TB.My plugs are in good shape and so are the wires.I have an MSD Blaster coil installed, also. Please help!!

i've been readin' and talkin' to alot of Escort owners with the same problem. I think i'm going to replace the Idle Air Controll Valve, this seems to be the concensus among the other ppl.I'll let you know how it turns out!!

No,it only does it after the car has been sitting for awhile when the engine is hot it starts and idles fine!! I was almost thinking it might be the MAF sensor but......

have you checked your cold start sensor cause that is what mine is doing and the garage said it was the cold start sensor and gone cause does it do it when the car is hot!!!!!!!
