Vauxhall Astra 1996 1.8l throttle issue?

The engine will start easily but will not idle properly. When given some throttle it often does not react at all and can stall the engine. Intermittently the engine will run smoothly but the throttle drops out and kicks in again, giving the sense of hopping down the road.

Is there a possibility that this is a TPS issue and how easily is this fixed?

Hi, not an expert, however from my own experiance with the Vauxhall engine you could check the idol screw on the carb. on mt Cavalier it became jammed and caused the same problems you are having. Best check the Haynes manual, however it is found on the right hand side of the carb just under the air intake manafold.
