im having a little trouble with my 49cc 2 stroke mini moto. Its really hard to get started it takes alot of adjusting the air screw on the carb, but it sounds as if it does'nt really want to start at all. i think the only reason it does is coz of the amount of air i'm letting in. but anyway when i do finaly get it started as soon as i move the throttle past a certain point it makes a choking sound, loses power and dies. plus even when it did run, there was no high end power just half decent on the acceleration side of things. any help on this is much appreciated guys.

did you buy the bike new ? , if not cheak that the fly wheel and make sure one of those silly rocket keys hasn't been fitted , i had the same problems as you but once i removed the key it was sorted

Take the carb off for a really good clean, using an aerosol carb cleaner. Look for water or any debris in the float bowl. Treat things very carefully - you don't want to bend or adjust either the float needle valve or the throttle slide needle. At the same time, check for fuel flow from the petrol tap and through the filter. If there is a pilot screw on the side of the carb, set it at 1 1/8th turn out from fully in.
