fridge to hot?

hot under the coller, May 2009
To cure problem I did the following.
1. Order a Servis temperature probe from Partsmater (search for servis temperature probe on their web site, the one you want is first in the list).
2. When it arrives you need to completely empty your freezer and defrost the appliance for 48 hours.

MAKE SURE THE FREEZER IS UNPLUGGED FROM THE MAINS

Then remove the two panels at the back of the freezer compartment. Be careful with the second one as it has the fan attached. This can be removed by squeezing the connection plug behind the panel. Swing the second panel off left hand first. If you break any clips dont worry they arent essential.

3. You will need a hand for the next bit. Remove the freezer from its cupboard so you can get easy access to the rear of it. I built a small table 205mm high with five legs that I pulled the freezer onto from its cupboard.
4. Once removed you will need to identify the correct part to replace as its not always identical. It is the small white probe strapped to the pipe at the back left top.
5 On the rear of the freezer you now need to have someone available.
6 Undo the srews holding the rear heat exchanger (the big black rear panel) and have someone support it. Then ease it SLOWLY away from the freezer to provide enough access to the small grey box under neath. This houses the PCB connections from the probes.
7 Undo the 2 screws holding the box to the freezer and realease the PCB. Identify the connection you need and release the plug from the PCB connection. It is the smallest white connector and will match you new one.
8 Once certain you have the identified the correct part and connection you need to cut the cable near to the PROBE end ie in the freezer
9 Now remove all of the plugging material sealing the hole to the rear of the freezer.
10 On your NEW part gently remove the white plug. You can do this by pressing gently on the metal connections with a small screw driver at the same time pulling gently the cable until the cable comes out complete with metal pin. Not easy to describe this bit but youll work it out
11 Securely tape the new cables (covering the pins) to the old cable you have cut and squirt a bit of washing up liquid in the hole to the back of the freezer.
12 Gently pull the new cable through the hole. Handy to have someone feeding the cable through while you pull it.
13 Once through, put the plug back on and connect to the PCB.
14 Strap the new probe back on in exactly the same place the old one was removed from.
15 Re-assemble everything in reverse order to removal
16 Switch appliance back on and set to Super Freeze to bring the freezer temp down as quickly as possible and set Fridge and Freezer reqd temps.
17 After24 hours check fridge is down to correct temp and if so slide freezer back in
